Valley Life Charter School - Board of Education

The Valley Life Charter School of Education meets on the Second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 3737 W Walnut, Visalia CA. VLCS Board Meetings are open to the public.

Terri Martindale, Ed. D. - (President) Terri Martindale serves at the Visalia Unified School District Office, Visalia, CA. Terri graduated from Fresno State with a Bachelor in Liberal Studies from Fresno Pacific University with a Master's in Reading/Language Arts.  She has three credentials which are a clear Teaching Credential, a Reading Specialist Credential, and a Clear Administrative Credential.  She completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management.  She is a member of the ACSA-Association of California School Administrators and an adjunct professor for the Fresno Pacific University program. David Humerickhouse - is a local dentist in Tulare, CA.  Dr. Humerickhouse graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.  He later graduated from the USC School of Dentistry, with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Humerickhouse has served in all of the leadership positions of the Tulare-Kings Dental Society (TKDS) over a period of six years, including a term as president, overseeing the governance, finance, and human resources of the association.  He has further experience in governance and leadership as the past chair of the local ethics committee. He then served two three-year terms as a trustee for the California Dental Association (CDA) where he was responsible for overseeing the finances of the Association's non-profit corporate arm and Holding Company, as well as governance and oversight of the various Councils and committees.  Afterward, further experience in leadership, governance, and human resources was gained as a six-year member and chair of the CDA Council on Peer Review. Jessica Gocke - Community Board Member - Jessica Gocke is an Environmental Consultant who assists counties with state mandates for reporting and department principal projects.  Jessica Graduated from CSU Fresno with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Industrial Hygiene and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She also received her Doctoral degree from the University of La Verne in Public Administration.  Jessica has taught at the collegiate level at both CSU Fresno and College of the Sequoias. She currently has two children that attend VLCS in Kinder and second grades and enjoys spending time in the classrooms assisting teachers and doing science projects! Jessica is excited to be on the board to learn more about VLCS and contribute to the school’s success in any way!  Contact at: jgocke@vlcs.org. Term Expires 2024

Alyssa Salas is currently an instructional coach in the Visalia Unified School District. She was previously an elementary teacher before transitioning to a reading intervention specialist. Alyssa graduated from Fresno Pacific University with a bachelor's in Liberal Studies and got a Master’s in Educational Administration from National University. She has a Clear Teaching Credential and a Preliminary Administrative Credential. Alyssa previously served on a non-profit, anti-human trafficking board and is currently the scholarship coordinator for The Salas Foundation. Alyssa is excited to serve on the board and help support student success at VLCS, as well as understand the level of educational excellence at VLCS. Contact at: alyssa_salas@live.com.

Vanessa Bailey - Parent Board MemberGraduated from Fresno Pacific University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in the same from Brandman University. She is employed full-time by the College of the Sequoias as the Consumer Family Studies Division Chair and Child Development Professor. She also works part-time for Fresno Pacific University, teaching continuing education classes and West Ed’s Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Network, providing behavior consultation and staff support in early childhood programs throughout California via a reflective practice model. She currently has three children who attend VLCS in 8th, 7th, and 5th grades and is always on the lookout for ways to help the teachers.
